Meditation is a mental discipline included in the practice of many world religions. Meditation intent is to induce a state of profound relaxation, inner harmony, and increased awareness.
Meditation is a tool for change. It connects the Shaman to his/her inner self: instincts, memory, attention, imagination, creativity and spirit. It connects to the other world of the other self: family, culture, nature, life, community, and spirit. By applying consistent effort the shaman frees themselves from their limiting habits.Meditation is any of the various disciplines of the mind and body that enable one to achieve a higher state of conciseness. Mediations goal, toward which it is applied is the transformation of consciousness, it is a tool for spiritual growth
Mystical meditation is practiced by the shaman world. Mystical meditation is also used as an important part of daily life. It is used to cultivate psychic knowledge (using the third eye and totems) and to gain self-knowledge. Meditation itself will not accomplish these goals, but will assist the Shaman in developing his/her powers to do so.
Posture is important. The mind concentrates on a single object, such as breathing control, mantra, yantra (or patterned object), or flames etc. (though candles or others objects that are flammable are not recommended for reason of safety). Detached awareness is important. The Shamans use meditation to talk to the Gods/Goddesses, spirit guides, or to use the third eye in healing. There are countless forms of mediation that can be used ranging from, Zen, Yoga, Buddhist, Christian, and Shamanic. These forms also have forms with in them. You will need to experiment to find the right form for you. As always whatever feels comfortable is usually the right one for you.The goal of mediation is to achieve mystical states of consciousness.
